In the spirit of storytelling I was reflecting on what I do when I give these paintings titles. Its weird and random, and I end up writing things I wouldn’t expect. I call them little bits of poetry, or story fragments. I speak about this in my new podcast- Tales Unearthed.
Look at what I most recently wrote in the description on my website. The title of this piece is: “Setting Sail” The flavor text is: “Sea fragments; found again”
What is this raccoon up to though!? For me he seems to be about to go on a journey. There are seashell fragments all around him, the deconstructed bits of a juniper tree from the dunes. He could be dancing, or feeling a bit overwhelmed. I think that I need to figure out where he goes next and show you, but I also like to hear what you think he is about to do. Maybe he will start putting the pieces together in a different way. Will it change his fur? Will he change color?
How about you think about it and don’t tell me. I’ll paint the next chapter and then we’ll see if we were all thinking the same thing.
There is something endlessly intriguing for me about considering the energy created from imagining the fragmentation of magical places. Like the sea, in pieces, what new constellations emerge?
I love the mystery.
Ok more soon.
(If you like “Setting Sail” you can click on the image to go to my shop. I just had prints made and I think they came out so nice.)
Love Pixie.
I'd love to see your paintings as oracle cards one day. 😍
